Benefits of Counselling

Sometimes people need to talk about their problems or a difficult decision with someone other than family, friends or colleagues.

Counsellors:
· listen to you without giving opinions or interfering
· give you time to talk
· give you the space to explore and understand your feelings
· support you through difficult times
· help you to consider your options
· empower you to choose the solution or strategies which are best for you

Who is it for?

Individuals or couples who are:
· feeling stressed, anxious, angry, depressed
· going through a life crisis eg bereavement, redundancy, trauma, divorce
· surviving/experiencing bullying or abuse
· lacking direction/wanting to explore self development

My Approach

My approach is integrative and varied to suit the needs of each client. It is based on a psychodynamic training which looks at past experiences to help us understand present behaviour and feelings.
I also include some aspects and techniques of Systems, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Solution Focussed and Transactional Analysis.
In addition I am able to offer deep relaxation.
At the first appointment you will be able to discuss your problem and decide if counselling is right for you. The number of sessions needed will be discussed; some issues can be resolved in short-term counselling, whilst others may require longer term work.
